At the Skyline Shed we offer extensive gearbox rebuilds, from simple refurbishment to replacement of broken gears and complete gearset upgrades to support up to 1000hp. Lets talk about the process:


Upon arrival, your gearbox is disassembled and given a complete industrial grade steam wash with anti corrosive additives. Once the components are clean, a complete inspection will follow for any damage, excessive wear or hairline cracks. If there is any damage or excessive wear, you will be notified. At additional costs we have the ability and parts on hand to replace worn or damaged components such as gears/selectors/shafts etc etc.

If given the all clear, the 3rd and 4th gears setup is removed and replaced entirely with brand new OEM Nissan components direct from Nissan Japan, this process also upgrades the older style synchro setup to the newer design which does away with the fiddly synchro clips known to fall off and land at the bottom of the gearbox causing horrible gear changes. The S3 GTR gearboxes have a much more robust design for their 3rd and 4th gear which utilizes large slotted key ways to stop the synchros moving out of line compared to the thin clips in the old design.

The gearset is given a brand new countershaft and a brand new offset design input shaft to suite the new 4th gear. The 3rd gear synchro is also upgraded to a triple piece ring which makes for much smoother and easier shifts. Finally, the gearset is given new bearings/seals/synchros/gaskets accordingly and is then assembled/installed into steam cleaned and painted gearbox housings ready for pickup or delivery. A final examination and bench test is always conducted prior to handing your gearbox back to you for peace of mind.

TRANSFER CASE REBUILD OPTIONS

TSS Rebuild service for R32 / R33 / R34 GTR Transfer Case, this service comes in 3 different stages:

Standard Service:

  • Disassemble and Industrial wash transfer case and components.
  • Replacement of filter/strainer unit.
  • Replacement of seals with OEM Nissan items.
  • Replacement of bearings with majority OEM Nissan items, some bearings are discontinued from Nissan and are sourced locally from a reputable bearing store.
  • Full inspection of all remaining components and report if anything is worn/needs replacement (replacement parts if needed are charged at an extra cost, but the customer will be advised of any additional costs once inspection has taken place).
  • Measurement and inspection of existing friction plates, if any existing plates are worn and show to have no life left, you will be notified and charged $75 per plate that needs replacing.

Full Service:

  • Disassemble and Industrial wash transfer case and components
  • Replacement of filter/strainer unit.
  • Replacement of ALL 7 friction plates and an additional friction plate installed (8 in total) to take up slack and reduce slippage due to extra power, this is recommended for all applications between 500-800hp at the wheels.
  • Replacement of seals with OEM Nissan items
  • Replacement of bearings with majority OEM Nissan items, some bearings are discontinued from Nissan and are sourced locally from a reputable bearing store.
  • Full inspection of all remaining components and report if anything is worn/needs replacement (replacement parts if needed are charged at an extra cost, but the customer will be advised of any additional costs once inspection has taken place).

Pro Service:

  • Disassemble and Industrial wash transfer case and components.
  • Replacement of ALL 7 friction plates and install 3 additional friction plates (10 in total) to lock up the front aggressively, this is recommended for all applications over 800hp at the wheels or where the vehicle is used in motorsport.
  • Replacement of filter/strainer unit.
  • Replacement of seals with OEM Nissan items.
  • Replacement of bearings with majority OEM Nissan items, some bearings are discontinued from Nissan and are sourced locally from a reputable bearing store.
  • Full inspection of all remaining components and report if anything is worn/needs replacement (replacement parts if needed are charged at an extra cost, but the customer will be advised of any additional costs once inspection has taken place).

PLEASE NOTE: Our transfer cases are always painted to prevent contamination of the alloy from road grime, see last image for reference of how our transfer cases look as a finished product. If you do NOT want the transfer case painted, please select it from the drop down menu.

  • TRANSFER CASE REBUILD OPTIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO SELECTED THE AWD GEARBOX OPTION.
